This attractive piece named "The Tea Shop” is highly collectible. It is ceramic, hand-painted and depicts a 1567 "Tudor Coaching Inn” with Tea Shop. This piece is 7”/17.78cm Tall, 4.75”/12.07cm Wide, Base is 1”/2.54cm.
Your eyes are drawn to the pink rose branches crawling up the pale pink walls and the yellow and red flower baskets. The numbered sign is also a nice touch depicting the year in which the artist wished to recreate this hand painted building. These Inns were very popular "in the days of coach and horses” and a few can still be found today, "disguised by generations of development.”
This bright and colourful piece can be hung on your wall, placed on a mantel or in a cabinet. This wall plaque is one of many historic British pieces created and hand painted by Hazle Ceramics, founded in 1990.
The Tea Shop is artist signed. The Tea Shop is in good condition and I could not find any cracking or crazing.
This piece is part of the “A Nation of Shopkeepers” Collection, which received the British Giftware Association Award for the "Best Collectible for its originality and value".
