While other artists blissfully painted gardens and countryside, Bosch’s vision was far more demonic. In fact, the medieval artist’s depictions of hell as a place of torture, monstrous creatures and never-ending suffering were quite often the subject for much of his art and, subsequently, for our Hieronymus Bosch t-shirts. From rat-kings and lakes of burning sulfur to demonic sadists and sword-wielding monsters, Bosch invented a radical underworld resembling a battlefield full of extreme portrayals of agony.
