Henri Matisse’s “Icarus” in Mini Cross Stitch Art

This mini cross stitch was hand stitched by me. Its size is 1 5/8” x 1 5/16”, and only a little bigger than a dime. It’s perfect for display framed or unframed. Note: Frame not included. Henri Matisse's "Icarus," a work from his Jazz series, depicts the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun, causing his wax wings to melt and leading to his fatal plunge into the sea. Matisse's interpretation, created using the "drawing with scissors" technique, showcases Icarus as a cutout figure against a vibrant blue background, with a prominent red heart symbolizing his passion and perhaps the cause of his downfall. The artwork is a pochoir print, a stencil-based technique, and is known for its dynamic composition and use of bold colors.
