My philosophy for caring for clothes:
I use The Laundress detergents and care for clothes a lot so they can have a long life :). I only do dry cleaning when absolutely necessary.
Silk: always hand wash and air dry.
Cotton/Linen/Viscose: machine wash, air dry and iron.
Wools: hand wash and air dry.
