The lid has a rubberized seal to keep your foods fresh. The canister holds approximately 7 cups of sugar and is a circular shape. It is about 6" wide in diameter on the outside of the canister and 6.375" tall, not including the lid. With the lid, the canister is 6.75" tall. Hand wash only. This will be wrapped very well and sent in a box to ensure it gets to you safely. Stoneware is a type of pottery that is fired at a high temperature to make it extra durable and non-porous. There are no flaws on the canister, since it is brand new, but it is an imperfect process so you should expect some variations in the finish.
