This sturdy one cup glass measuring cup has the Hazel-Atlas trademark embossed on the bottom of the glass. Made from a heavy glass this measuring cup and chopper combination became popular in the mid-20th century.
This measuring cup is different than most because it has measurements on one side for liquids embossed and on the other side for dry ingredients.
The measuring cup has a metal lid with a spring loaded plunger with a wood ball on top. The plunger is attached to a chopper and there is a wooden disk in the bottom to protect the glass. It was designed to chop nuts, spices and other foods as well as measure.
See photos of cuts inside the measuring cup. They are not felt on the outside. There is chipping of the glass on the lip of the cup. The plunger works as you see it in different positions in photos. The wooden disk is worn and has faint cut marks from the chopper. There is a small amount of rust on the inside of the lid right where the plunger comes through the lid and also some rust on the chopper blades. There is missing paint.
It is in fair to good vintage condition and would make a perfect addition to a red vintage kitchen utensil collection or added to any kitchen for a retro farmhouse aesthetic.
See my closet for other kitchen utensils. If bundling items they must not exceed the 5 pound weight limit.
