Glove-soft Victorian style lace-up booties in women's size 7.
Handmade in NYC in 1990s, when the city still had a (non-bespoke) shoemaking industry. Size and brand were scratched off.
2-1/4" heel, 5/8" platform. Shaft is 6" from sole of foot at the arch. Top circumference is adjustable to about 10".
Toe caps and stitched/embossed details on heel and vamp. Thin cotton laces.
Purchased around 1998 at a small shop on Columbus Ave. in the west 70s. They were white. Of course I had them dyed black immediately, with half-soles and heel taps added to the leather soles.
Very soft and comfortable. Easy on and off. Just open the laces, you don't have to remove them from the eyelets. Lightweight, pair weighs 24 ounces.
Have been lightly worn and always cared for, polished with shoe cream. You will need to keep applying the black cream lest the original white peek through.
Even though they've been little worn, owing to their age some regluing may be needed over time. A 1" spot on left lateral sole, in front of the heel, could use a dab of Shoe Goo. It's not at a critical stress point. (Last ph)
These boots fit my standard size 7 US like a comfortable glove, including a wide toe box that cannot suffer pinching.
Lovely, slenderizing design.
Selling because I just have too many shoes (after 30 years in NYC), and mostly wear flats these days.
Maybe I should keep them. But if someone else can get more use from them, here they are.
