This necklace was purchased from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC Gift shop in conjunction with the exhibition titled Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, which explored the relationship between handmade and machine-made techniques in fashion. This exhibition was part of The Costume Institute's spring 2016 collection. the exhibition's theme of handcraft versus machine production in fashion aimed to show how designers reconcile these two approaches.
