This hand- carved solid teak wooden divided serving dish from Thailand in the 1960s-1970s has seven sections, making it useful as well as beautiful. (William Morris would approve!) 9 3/4-inches in diameter, it is ideal for serving small snacks or as a twist on the charcuterie board.
Teak, commonly known as Tekgu, has been an important species in Thailand since ancient times. It's very durable, with rich tones and a distinctive grain. There are very few remaining natural teak trees in Thailand and now they are managed by government agencies. That unfortunate history makes platters like this rare and collectible.
In great condition with one small scratch that is hard to spot. Look at section in nine o'clock position on cover image. Also shown in close up photo.
