Vintage Hallmark 2000 Lionel General Steam LocomotiveTrain Engine Ornament Collector’s Series Number 5 in the Series Die Cast Metal New in Box, never displayed. I am the original owner, it’s been stored in the hall Christmas closet. From the back of the box- Fifth in the LIONEL® Train Series. Look for series verification/5 on this ornament. Often referred to as "America's Favorite Locomotive," the General (1872) was offered by LIONEL® in the 1950s. The original General had become famous on April 12, 1862, when Union soldiers captured the locomotive deep in Confederate territory. Before they could reach Union lines, the engine was overtaken by the Confederates-but not before a thrilling chase covering 87 miles!
