There's nothing like Gucci -- and Princess Grace of Monaco knew it. In 1966 she went into a Gucci shop in Italy and asked about a scarf. None was available but the House of Gucci quickly contrived this flowered print, "Flora," with a silken meadowful of blooms, dragonflies, and butterflies, and presented it to Her Serene Highness. The print became iconic, and here it is, in a hobo bag from early in the line, not long after the turn of this century. The bag is large, about 15 inches wide -- this is a soft hobo bag -- about 12 inches tall, with a handle drop of between 4 and 5 inches. The bottom, as the photo shows, is seamed, not flat. The handle is of braided leather with the flat wide leather pad that cushions it on your shoulder. The interior is a buttery-tan canvas, with one zippered pocket, and a golden Gucci shield on the obverse side of the stamped Gucci serial number. The gold Gucci shield has come off the golden loop on the interior zipper pull. The bag closes with a concealed snap. A copy of the certificate of authenticity, from Real Authentication, will be sent along with the bag. From a smoke-free, dog-loving home.
