Vintage remake of the Gucci House iconic classic was produced in the 1989-1990 period to bring back the ever recognizable bamboo top handle. CONDITION: Excellent used condition. Exterior has some minor scratches. Interior is in pristine condition. Mirror and leather holder in excellent condition. Bamboo handles and stitching all in tact and perfectly functioning. The Gucci records are incomplete, but according to research by fashion historian Aurora Fiorentini, the bag was originally created in 1947. The usage of bamboo was a way to reduce the amount of sourcing for leather to make the bag, as a result of the continuing wartime shortages. Gucci has continued to make the 0633, with slight modifications, for years. In 1989 Maurizio Gucci hired American Dawn Mello.
