Dom Eugène Cardine's ground-breaking text on the interpretation of Gregorian chant, translated into English. Dom Cardine taught Gregorian chant and semiology for many years at Solesmes Abbey; in this study, he brings together the melodic notation of chant with which we are already familiar and examines it side-by-side with the neumatic symbols and inscriptions in the oldest chant manuscripts, synthesizing them into a new way to approach this body of music.
The front and back covers have a crease near the binding. It doesn’t make a difference in the integrity of the book, but it does not look new. Pages are clean and crisp.
