Gorgeous 1960s Red Wool Coat - Balenciaga Import Adaptation by Don Millstein

This stunning 1960s Union-made red wool lined coat with 3/4 sleeves and intricate oversized buttons is a rare Balenciaga Import Adaptation by Don Millstein. Made of 100% wool with a matching red lining, this coat is a beautiful statement piece that would make a stylish addition to any classic wardrobe. Don Millstein was a famous designer in the 1940's to 1960's. He is best known for designing Marilyn Monroe's wedding dress when she married Joe DiMaggio. Calvin Klein also got his start sketching for Millstein. This coat is one of his later pieces - authorized for production by Millstein in the US by Balenciaga and with their oversight. There is no size tag, but instead the former owner's name is attached inside, so I believe this may have been a custom made piece for that customer. Not many of these gems ever even hit the resale market, since they are usually passed down as heirloom investment pieces from generation to generation.
