sschlesi @eluzabethsh no chest band required, those are for measuring Heart Rate, which this does not measure. This tracks your steps, distance, calories burned, and blinks a red bar across the top of screen when you've gone a while without moving. I believe it tracks your sleep as well. You can also tell it when you start/ stop a work out, so you know how long you worked out, and calories burned during that particular work out.
