Gail Bird / Yazzie Johnson Personalized 'EVA' Sterling Silver Hammered Cuff Bracelet This fantastic Hammered cuff bracelet displays the name EVA (or initials EVA) in a motif at the center, and is Marked STERLING with Yazzie's original mark 'Y' which he used between 1972-1983 aging this beauty between 42-53 years old. It is in wonderful vintage condition. Beautiful aged patina. Minor signs of wear. *Best for 5.75-6.5 inch wrist (my wrist measures exactly 7" and I CAN Wear this just not as comfortably as intended) U S. Army Veteran Yazzie Johnson (Navajo Winslow, AZ) and Gail Bird (Santo Domingo and Laguna Pueblo Oakland, CA) met as children, both having parents who worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Utah. They both attended UC Berkeley, as well University of Colorado Boulder together in early adulthood. In 1972 The couple began crafting jewelry together. Known for their innovative jewelry, which often blends contemporary, and prehistoric design motifs. Their jewelry frequently pushes the boundaries of American Indian jewelry, but it is not without an appreciation for the historic past with designs often influenced by petroglyphs.
