Records. The album reached #1 on the US Billboard 200 chart and stayed at the top for six consecutive weeks. Two singles from the album charted high with 'We Got The Beat' peaking at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 'Our Lips Are Sealed' reaching #20. 'We Got The Beat' was named one of the "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2000, 'Our Lips Are Sealed' appeared in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest pop songs. 'Beauty and the Beat' has been certified Double Platinum by the RIAA in the US and has been included in several editions of Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time."
