It is their first album written and recorded entirely at their studio "The Farm" in Chiddingfold, Surrey, and the songs were developed through jam sessions in the studio with nothing written beforehand. Grammy winning producer Hugh Padgham returned as their engineer. 'Genesis' was the group's greatest commercial success at the time of release, becoming the band's third straight album to reach #1 on the UK Albums Chart. It also reached #9 on the US Billboard 200. Of the five singles released from the album, 'That's All' reached #6 and became the band's first US top 10 hit. The album has since been certified 4× Platinum in the US.
