French Style Pewter‎ And Glass Decanter Grape Adornments Wine/water

We are pleased to offer a rare vintage wine or water pewter and glass decanter. This graceful carafe features a French style harness with wide-arching handle in 95% pewter, and is adorned with grape clusters and leaves at the center front harness, handle attachment at the back and thumb piece on the hinged lid of the duck-shaped spout. The decanter has a traditional teardrop shaped moulded glass body which is affixed on a pewter footed base. There is an embossed "95%" at the base, confirming the pewter content. This means it was made of high grade pewter making it safe for consumable goods. This quality obligation was obligatory as of the 1950s but already in usage as a habit before then. This very decorative functional art piece has a substantial weight, 2 lbs 4 oz, and is very sturdy, yet exudes a fine elegance and beauty, which is understated by the clean lines and classic design. For care; hand wash in warm water, use mild, non-acidic soap. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
