A French snuff box from the Edwardian Period. Very beautiful hexagonal box, created in Paris France during the Edwardian period, back in the 1905. This handsome snuff (pills) box has been crafted in solid silver and decorated with neoclassical patterns in the manner of Louis XVI. It is entirely embellished with applications of purplish-royal blue and gray-white enamels over guilloche surfaces and with the interiors finished with gilding. Fitted with an invisible hinge and a lid that is properly closing.  Weight: 93.4 Grams, (59.87 Dwt). Measurements: 67 mm by 60 mm by 15 mm (2.63 x 2.36 x 0.59 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the helmeted head of Minerva for the warranty and assay of the silver and two times with the maker's maitre mark JQ inside a lozange cartouche. Edwardian Jewelry Period was during the King Edward VII, after whom this period of jewelry history is named, reigned over England for only nine years, yet the style of jewelry known as “Edwardian” was created roughly between 1890 and 1920.
