A handsome Frankoma Pottery Oklahoma State commemorative plate. I love this series of plates, they are so well designed and eye catching. Each plate features places and people that particular state is known for. The back contains information about the state including the state bird, flower and tree. The Oklahoma plate has the distinction of being created in the home state of its maker Frankoma Pottery. In like new condition. 8 1/2" across.
Frankoma Pottery was founded in Norman, Oklahoma in 1933 by John Frank a University of Oklahoma ceramics professor. The company moved to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1953 where the use of light colored clay was replaced with the local brick red clay.
