A Bit of History:
Franciscan Desert Rose glassware, including the cup and saucer, was first introduced in November 1981 and produced in England between 1985 and 2002 after Wedgwood purchased the Franciscan brand and moved production from California to England. The glass line featured the same popular design of pink roses and olive green stems seen on the dinnerware pattern.
Franciscan Desert Rose cups are made from earthenware ceramic, not porcelain. The term "earthenware" refers to a type of ceramic ware that is porous and unglazed before firing, making it a type of ceramic. Porcelain, on the other hand, is a different type of ceramic that is fired at much higher temperatures and is known for its non-porous and translucent quality.
