Etsuko is a master in the art of Tatebanko (Ta-Te-Banko), Three-dimensional art paper Sculpture. This Art form had its roots in Europe a pastime of the French court and a fanciful art form in Regency and Victorian England in the 14 Hundreds. A Traditional Japanese art form first seen in late 17h and early 18th century. In a process that sometimes takes as long as two weeks, I design and create images which then are carefully cut from hand colored prints, using only a knife, water colors and a wood forming tool. I then create three-dimensional compositions, which are at times quite intricate. Then I carefully assemble the images to appear as a unified whole.
