pair of authentic ANTIQUE old solid CAST IRON bronze finish bookends handcrafted by well-known high quality maker CONNECTICUT FOUNDRY CO. in 1929! the Connecticut Foundry produced a line of sand cast metal bookends that had a distinctive style characterized by very soft details. They manufactured solely in iron. Their line of bookends went out of production sometime between the Great Depression and the beginning of World War II. Each bookend depicts a mast sailing clipper schooner ship at sea! Back of each piece is signed/embossed “FLYING CLOUD COPR 1929” and equipped with the CT FOUNDRY hallmark…a “C” within a triangle within a circle. The Flying Cloud was a clipper ship that set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. The ship held this record for over 100 years, from 1854 to 1989! Each piece shows amazing craftsmanship, quality and detail throughout! This authentic 1929 pair is a must have for any collector!
