thelyonsden4 @darkholland hi ! I would say it runs tts closer to the 16 size instead of the 20 . It has a very stretchy elastic waist . I took measurements for you and without stretching , the waist is 12 inches and can stretch much bigger than that if needed or stay at the original 12 in . The length of the shorts from the top waist band to the bottom hem is 20 inches . Hope this helps
