Will Sally and her family ever be able to go home?
When heavy rains cause the river to flood, Sally, her family, and many of their neighbors have to evacuate their homes. With nothing but the clothes on their backs, they seek shelter at the local school. At first, it seems like an adventure, but as reports come in of whole houses being washed away, Sally learns the meaning of being a true friend and a good neighbor. Flood Friday is based on the actual flooding of western Connecticut in 1955.

Author: Lois Lenski
Publisher: Open Road Media Teen & Tween
Published: 12/27/2011
Pages: 114
Binding Type: Paperback
Weight: 0.37lbs
Size: 8.52h x 5.55w x 0.33d
ISBN: 9781453258415
Audience: Ages 9-12

About the Author
Born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1893, Lois Lenski achieved acclaim as both an author and illustrator of children's literature. She did meticulous research and spoke with children and adults in the various regions to create stories depicting the lives of the inhabitants of those areas. Her novel of Florida farm life, Strawberry Girl, won the Newbery Award in 1946. She also received a Newbery Honor in 1942 for Indian Captive, a fictionalized account of the life of Mary Jemison. Lenski died in 1974.
