Dimensions 4" H x 5" W Scarf Designed By Loic Dubigeon for Hermès Year of Introduction 1987 Story Behind The Scarf The story behind the Hermès Fantaisies Indiennes scarf is that it was designed by Loic Dubigeon in 1987 as a tribute to Indian culture and features a central Tree of Life design inspired by the frescoes and paintings found in the Shekhawati region of India.i The detailed border of the scarf draws from the murals on the havelis (fortified homes) of wealthy 19th-century Marwari merchants in Rajasthan. Notably, the original 1987 issue includes a portrait of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian citizen in space, who is depicted with his initials at the base of the tree.
