Charming mid-century petite porcelain scalloped bowl, decorated in Hong Kong. Features an open-cut rim in an elaborate colorful Famille Rose style. Interior & exterior are designed with a flora & fauna scene. It is the perfect size to keep by your bedside or the sink area to toss your jewelry.
The birds appear to be long-tailed pheasants. Double pheasants symbolize beauty, good fortune, wisdom & refinement.
Condition:
• Good Clean Vintage Condition. No chips, cracks, scratches. The bottom rim is unglazed and does show marks.
• Bottom is marked 'Decorated in Hong Kong'. This mark was used during the cultural revolution period after 1966 to the 1980's on items imported to the US through Hong Kong. The US did not have open trade with China, exporting through Hong Kong provided the means to get porcelain into the US. Circa 1960-1980
