Faden Quartz: 66 Carats Specimen from Pakistan

This 66 Carat Faden Quartz Crystal from Pakistan is a truly beautiful specimen. Faden quartz is formed in a unique way and it is known for the white thread-like or string-like zones running through the interior— a unique feature of this type of quartz. Faden quartz is formed in areas of low grade metamorphism in which cavities in the rock are growing. When these zones grow, the quartz crystals in them are broken (repeatedly), and the healing and regrowth incorporates fluid and gaseous inclusions ( the white threads). The edges of the crystals grow faster and incorporate the liquid inclusions in the center of the crystals. The specimen dimensions are 55 x 16 x 11mm, and the white thread-like strings can be clearly seen in the photos.
