This is an unbelievable vintage hat. Designed by the famous London designer, Mary Quant in her first year of working for Lock and Co. Milliners in London. Lock and Co. is the most famous hat company in England. They are the Milliners to Kings and Queens and the oldest remaining family run business in England. Royalty and celebrities around the world have worn and still wear their hats. Mary Quant learned her milliner trade there. She went on to become the most famous English designer of the swinging 1960’s in London and was world known. This hat was purchased from Lock and Co. in 1954 in London and brought home. It is a family piece. The brim is wired and can be moved in many angles to change it’s look and style. It is of the highest quality felt and the crown has almost a “fur” look. The crown of the hat is circled in a black knit fabric band. The hat is entirely hand made and hand formed and stitched. It is as entirely stylish today as it was then. It is a beautiful piece of vintage history by the most famous milliners in the world. There is no damage to the hat. It will come in a hat box. It isn’t the original but the hat will be protected. Lock and Co. Delores hats are also seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum in England. The inside of the hat measures approximately 21-22” in diameter, however it has some stretch to it and can go a bit larger if needed. Again the brim can be adjusted in several ways.
