FASCINATING 1940s' BLACK FELT WIDE BRIM HAT + LARGE AQUA OSTRICH FEATHER

This is a magnificent black felt wide brim hat from the fashions of the 1940s'! The black felt hast has a round crown which extends below the wide brim, creating a "cup" effect. The wide brim is edged with a black grosgrain band. An outstanding feature of this hat is the awesome large aqua colored ostrich feather which is secured via a grosgrain bow and projects towards the back, There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to help keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
