This is a fabulous feather cocktail hat from the 1950s. It typifies the glamorous hats worn in the decade. They are still show-stoppers today.
The hat is covered in black, rust and black/white dotted feathers. Fabric covers the inside part of the cap frame, and a beautiful long veil completes the look. In excellent vintage condition, including the veil. Veil can be placed on top of the hat, or worn covering the face. This hat has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for over 40 years. Labeled RIVERA + store label Chas A. Stevens & Co, Chicago. Mannequin not for sale.
Found online: "In 1954 BOB GREENE formed the RIVERA millinery collection...An interesting, entertaining young man, he not only knows millinery from the look-see designer side but from the inside-out understanding. In other words, he knows the full and complete process of making a hat from sketch-board to finished product, which makes him a personality to remember."
