This beautiful antique 1800s dish is from Haviland & Co, a renowned porcelain manufacturer in Limoges, France. The Limoges region is known for its fine porcelain production, particularly after the discovery of kaolin deposits there. I believe this dish to have been a salesman sample. Very unusual markings. I have not been successful at identifying this particular pattern.
Design Features:
The dish is characterized by its white porcelain base and intricate hand-painted gold floral gilt details, which adorn the handles, rims, and the decorative finial on the lid. The lid's finial on this specific piece resembles an oyster or a stylized scroll.
• Ornate gold floral design
• Porcelain material
• Lid with handle
• Dual side handles
• Elegant
There is some wear to this piece, as it is approximately 140 years old. Some of the gold gilt has been worn off and there are a couple of cracks. Does not leak when filled with water. PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS. Please note, these photos were taken outside, there is a little glare from the sun in some photos. I believe this dish, with these markings, may be one of a kind.
