Ernest Sohn Creations was founded in 1951 in New York by Ernest Sohn, a German immigrant who fled to the USA during the Nazi invasion of Germany in 1936 and settled in NY. While working at Weil-Freeman, a giftware importer in NY, he designed a few pieces which Weil-Freeman purchased. Hall Pottery, which began production in 1903 and is still in business today in Ohio, manufactured this particular Sohn piece. Hall's china pieces from the early 1900 - 1950s are HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE. See photos for measurements. Brass knob on top of lid - can be polished to brighter shine, but I left as is. Stamp has worn off on bottom, barely made out "USA", coloring matches other stamps his pieces had.

PLEASE READ: A picture is worth a MILLION words - ALL photos are part of the description and condition!! All items are sold As Is, no returns. Vintage and antique items may have minute fleabites, chips, cracks, crazing, discoloration, scuffs, scrapes, scratches, manufacturer defects, etc., etc. commensurate with age. I usually disclose/photograph them anyway. Materials/measurements are extremely close if not exact. I try to find the country of origin and year produced. I take care in shipping breakable items, so extra packing materials may be required, causing a slight increase in shipping cost. Please don't rate lower be
