Eire- The Celtic Collection- The Celtic Spiral Spirals abound in nature - from the shape of sea shells to hurricanes and galaxies. In the Celtic culture they can be found on a myriad of artifacts and monuments, especially Dolmans and gravesites. While their exact meaning remains unknown they are believed to represent the travel from the inner life to the outer soul or higher spirit forms; the concept of growth, expansion, and the radiation of ethereal energy. If seen as a line spiraling inwards it could mean the journey from the outer materialistic world to the inner spiritual one. If seen as a line spiraling outwards it may mean the expansion of the consciousness from the core outwards encompassing learning and experiences. Spirals, thus, represent both- creation and self-realization. the Celts also considered them a symbol of the sun, and as representations of visible planetary configurations and the brightest fixed stars during total eclipses.
