Stunning Edwardian white blouse made of semi-sheer lawn fabric. So many details in this beauty! Tiny shell buttons embellish the narrow pleats down either side of the front. Embroidered vines curve in graceful interlocking semi-circles and surround eliptical cut outs - some open and some filled with hand work that looks like webbing. That hand work is also found on the high pleated collar, the sleeves and on the back where they are vertically placed along the button placket on each side. The back also is embellished with tiny pintuck pleats. The blouse is a pigeon style which means it's longer in front than in back and is meant to blouse over the waist a bit in front. It closes in back with tiny shell buttons. They are original except for the bottom two which have been replaced with plastic buttons. The condition of this blouse is very good. The only flaws to note are some holes in the fabric of the panel just under the waist. This is a really exceptional example of the decoration that was popular during this period. And all hand done!
