OWING TO A FINANCIAL CRISIS, I'm offering this and other of my pricier items at greatly reduced prices. Hurry! Once the crisis is averted, prices will revert to pre-crisis levelsTHIS EXQUISITE FOOTED EWER FROM THE EMPOLI REGION OF ITALY, C. 1950’S OR 1960’S, is in near-perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, spots, stains, etc. (Note that hand-crafted glassware is never entirely free of defects; small spots and/or bubbles are common and should not be considered defects but as signs of quality.) This ewer is cased glass, yellow over white, with applied amber handle, foot, and decorative trim, and a rough pontil mark on the bottom of the foot (pictures #6 & 7). It measures 16.5” high, and 4.5” at its widest point. The foot has a diameter of 4.25”. Note that Empoli designates an area of Italy, not a specific glassmaker. (Empoli is a town in Tuscany, about 12 miles southwest of Florence.) On the basis of its close resemblance to a ewer I found online (picture #9), I have tentatively identified the maker of this ewer as Cristalleria Fratelli Betti.
My price on this ewer is firm. If it doesn't sell in a few months, I will probably be open to offers.
