Full SR/2 half-speed mastering on all four sides by Stan Ricker
Original 1977 Jet Records US pressing
WHY THIS PRESSING IS SPECIAL
This is the SR/2 version, meaning all four sides were cut half-speed by Stan Ricker, one of the best-known audiophile mastering engineers of the era.
Out of the Blue was released in 1977 at the height of ELO’s most ambitious period. Jeff Lynne wrote the album during a three-week stretch of bad weather in Switzerland, which inspired the Weather Report Suite on Side 3. US editions were cut at multiple facilities, but the SR/2 half-speed lacquers are the most sought after due to their superior sound. Original sets came with two punch-out spaceship sheets and a fold-out band photo, but most were used, separated, or lost over the years. Near-complete sets have become harder to find.
