Hello! Can't be 100% sure, but after a little research, it appears it is likely that this item was originally without the plaid shearling design, and was a zip up leather vest. It looks like someone took on the craft of making this an art piece, but carefully crafting the plaid fur areas - it is well done, and it took a while of striking out and noticing that the tag does not reference it, to adjust my understanding of what I had.
