Back in the golden era of movie making, lobby cards were sent to theaters to promote an upcoming film. 8 dramatic scenes were chosen from each film to capture the public’s attention and, even though most movies were in black & white, these 11x14 inch lobby cards were lithographed in vibrant colors.
This is one of the original 8 lobby cards lithographed in 1950 for Danny Kaye’s classic film “The Inspector General”. It was made by the National Screen Service and the NSS number 50/15 in the lower right corner designates it was the 15th film in 1950 the National Screen Service printed promotional material for.
The lobby card measures 11x14 inches and is in good condition for its age. It has age discoloration, some wear along the edges, and a tear along the bottom that has been taped on the back (see photos). The image itself is still nice and colorful after 75 years.
