Crown Ducal Colonial Series “Speak for yourself John.” This specific plate features a scene depicting John Alden and Patricia Mullins known from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1858 poem, “the courtship of Miles Standish” where Priscilla famously tells John Alden to “speak for yourself John.” The border of the plate features other historical American scenes including an American Indian, Pocahontas and the mayflower (see photos). Characterized by red/pink transfer ware design. Made in 1920s/30s. Very good condition, normal vintage wear. No chips/cracks.
