The one dollar bill has the oldest design of all U.S. currency currently being produced. The design seen today debuted in 1963 when it was first issued as a Federal Reserve Note. Previously, all dollar bills were Silver Certificates. A Star Note is actually a replacement note substituted by the Bureau of Printing and Engraving when a bill is accidentally misprinted or damaged. When an error is made, and a bill is deemed imperfect in it's manufacture and unsuitable for circulation it is destroyed. It's illegal to produce a bill's serial number more than once so a Star Note is printed as a replacement with a small star preceding or following the serial number. This three-piece collection presented by American Coin Treasures includes three 2013 series uncirculated one dollar Federal Reserve Star Notes. The collectible set comes with an informative mount (8.5" L x 10.25" H) and certificate of authenticity.
