Couroc Bird Bowl Vintage Tray Inlaid Wood Ebony Resin Mid Century Serving Decor

This decorative bowl by Couroc of Monterey is made of satin black phenolic (a durable resin akin to Bakelite that was designed to resemble ebony). The bird image was hand inlaid with various shades of wood veneer by master craftsmen. Each piece of Couroc is unique, and impervious to alcohol and boiling water. SIZE: Measures 7 5/8” diameter by 1.375” H. CONDITION: Good vintage condition with some scratching / smudging, as seen in photos with direct sunlight. Couroc of Monterey was a company that produced a line of decorative items made of a proprietary phenolic resin material that resembled ebony wood. The company was founded in 1948 in Monterey, California, by Guthrie Sayle and Moira Wallace, who named the company after themselves.
