The image shows a plate featuring a depiction from "The Lady and the Unicorn" tapestries. This is a series of six tapestries, considered to be one of the greatest works of art from the Middle Ages.
The tapestries were woven in Flanders around the late 15th century and are currently housed at the Musée de Cluny in Paris.
Five of the tapestries are believed to represent the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. The sixth tapestry is titled "À Mon Seul Désir" ("To my only desire"), and its meaning is still debated, but it is often interpreted as representing love or understanding.
The tapestries are known for their "mille-fleurs" ("thousand flowers") style, featuring a rich background of various animals, plants, and flowers.
The unicorn in the tapestries is often seen as a symbol of purity, while the lady is interpreted as a representation of courtly love and refinement.
