You are looking at a beautiful and rare vintage Falcon Ware vase from England, featuring a delightful, hand-painted scene.
The square-form vase showcases two sides with a charming image of a Dutch boy and girl in clogs and traditional dress, holding a basket of fruit. The other two sides depict a tranquil seascape with sailboats on a calm sea beneath a blue and cloudy sky. The rich, ombre base fades from a sandy yellow to a deep brown.
The base is stamped with the circular "FALCON WARE" mark and the number 4318, which will be of interest to collectors!
Item Condition Summary:
This vase is in Good Vintage Condition for its age, likely 1920s-1940s. There are no severe/major chips or structural cracks. The piece exhibits all-over, uniform fine crazing consistent with its age and the type of ceramic (earthenware), which is visible in the sky and figures (see photos). There is a fine hairline crack visible near the top rim on the Dutch couple side (about 1.5 inches long) and a faint one on the sailboat side near the top, which appear stable. The top rim has a small, shallow glaze chip on the black trim (view top-down image). The hand-painted decoration and glaze remain bright and largely intact, with minor wear consistent with display.
