Best-known for her US Top 10 hit with "Fascination" and her 1958 UK No. 1 with "The Day The Rains Came", Jane Morgan was a singer with a fascinating background. Born in 1924, she sang competitively from an early age and attended the famous Juilliard School of Music in New York, training to be an opera singer, and funding her studies by singing in night-clubs. She was invited to Paris in the mid-'40s by orchestra leader Bernard Hilda, and became a popular cabaret performer, singing in French, and appearing on television, and while in Europe she made records in Paris and London. Returning to the USA in the early '50s, she signed with the newly-established Kapp Records, for whom she recorded until the early 1960s. This 54-track 2-CD set comprises selected A & B sides of her early singles recorded in Europe for the Columbia, Decca, Polydor and Parlophone labels, and then from her US singles on Kapp, with at least one side included of all her Kapp singles from these years.
