The Dionne sisters were born in 1934 in a rural Canadian village. Annette, Cecile, Emilie, Marie and Yvonne were the first known set of quintuplets who survived infancy. The identical baby girls were born premature and needed specialized, expensive care. To help meet their needs, the family relinquished custody Dionne sisters to the Red Cross. The babies became a worldwide sensation. The sisters lived together until they were 18 and became something of a tourist attraction.
The spoons are silverplate and feature a unique portrait of each of the 5 sisters, and their name on the shank. The Carlton Silverplate Co. sold the spoons around 1940 when the girls were 6 years old. This set is in excellent condition. Stored in Pacific Silvercloth" since 1940.
