Charming mid-century Cleminsons (California) pottery “Gay Blade” razor blade keeper/receiver—a figural bathroom bank used to safely drop in dull double-edge blades. Hand-painted with Cleminsons’ classic whimsical face; stamped “The California Cleminsons – Hand Painted” on base.
Size: approx. 3.5" H x 3.25" W (across bottom).
Condition:
No chips, no hairlines, no repairs.
Light, even age crazing typical of vintage Cleminsons.
Thin line on the top of the hair is a factory glaze skip (common on hand-painted pieces) — it’s in the surface glaze only, does not go through the body, you can’t catch a fingernail on it, and the piece rings true when tapped. See close-ups.
Clean and displays beautifully.
Notes: Slot at the crown for blades (or coins); meant for display and safe storage—please do not attempt to open. Wonderful barbershop décor, MCM bathroom accent, or addition to a California pottery collection.
I pack with care and ship fast. Questions welcome!
Please look at the pictures and ask any questions.
