Cinnabar Tribal Set

I made this pretty set with resin cinnabar tribal beads (8mm roses, 8mm melon beads, 10mm square beads and 25mm X 10mm focal), tan Czech glass beads (12mm wavy spacers, 13mm X 10mm leaf beads, and 10mm X 8mm floral bead caps). It is strung with bone colored Soft Flex beading wire and I lobster clasp closer. The necklace measures 20” without the focal and the earrings are hung on Sterling wires and measure 1 ¾”. These simulated cinnabar beads are resin casted with amazing details that are based on traditional carvings of the stone, bringing complexity and beauty. (Genuine cinnabar is the mineral mercuric sulfide, which was carved and made into jewelry and bowls and other wares. It often was powdered and added to lacquer to give it a rich red color. Real cinnabar is no longer produced because the main component is MERCURY, a highly poisonous neuro-toxin!)
