Elegant and iconic, this French Christofle Gallia Art Deco swan saucière with matching ladle was designed circa 1930 by renowned Danish silversmith Christian Fjerdingstad (1891–1968). Fjerdingstad served as a design consultant for Christofle from 1924 to 1939, and his sculptural swan motif remains one of Maison Christofle’s most celebrated and collectible creations.
The oval silver-plated sauce or gravy boat forms the swan’s graceful body, while the tail curves into a functional handle. The matching serving spoon/ladle echoes the design with a handle that terminates in the swan’s elegant head.
• Measurements: Saucière 8”L × 4”W × 2.25”H; Ladle 8”L × 2”W
• Marks: Both pieces fully stamped. Ladle bears GALLIA with Christofle’s knight hallmark (used c.1935–1983 for silver-plated Gallia metal, a pewter-like alloy). Sauce boat marked GALLIA / FRANCE / Christofle knight figure.
• Condition: Very good vintage condition with light surface scuffs and shallow scratches consistent with age and gentle use. There is some patina that will be removed prior to shipping.
